SALT LAKE CITY, August 7, 2025 – Varex Imaging Corporation (Nasdaq: VREX) today announced its unaudited financial results for the third quarter of fiscal year 2025.
3QFY25 Summary
- Revenues of $203 million
- GAAP gross margin 33% | Non-GAAP gross margin* 34%
- GAAP operating margin (40)% | Non-GAAP operating margin* 8%
- GAAP net loss $(2.15) per diluted share | Non-GAAP net earnings* $0.18 per diluted share
- Cash flow from operations was $8 million
Sunny Sanyal, Chief Executive Officer, stated, “We are pleased to report that third quarter revenue of $203 million was above the high-end of our guidance. Our Industrial segment remained strong in the quarter and Medical revenue in China was better than our expectations.” Sanyal added, “We are encouraged by the continued adoption of our systems in cargo inspection applications. Additionally, we expect a healthy demand environment for both Medical and Industrial segments to drive sales growth of approximately 3% for fiscal year 2025.”
Varex’s revenue of $203 million was down 3% year-over-year. Medical segment revenue of $142 million was down 4% year-over-year. Industrial segment revenue of $61 million was up 1% year-over-year. Non-GAAP gross margin was 34% in the quarter compared to 32% in the third quarter of fiscal year 2024 and non-GAAP EPS increased to $0.18 in the quarter from $0.14 in the third quarter of fiscal year 2024.
Balance Sheet & Cash Flow
Cash flow from operations was $8 million in the third quarter of fiscal year 2025. Cash, cash equivalents, and marketable securities at the end of the third quarter of fiscal year 2025 was $153 million and compares to $226 million in the prior quarter. The primary driver of the sequential change in cash was due to the use of cash to pay down the outstanding principal of our Convertible Notes, which occurred on June 2, 2025.
Outlook
Our guidance for the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2025 is as follows:
- Revenues are expected to be between $210 million and $230 million
- Non-GAAP net earnings per diluted share is expected to be between $0.10 and $0.30
Guidance for the company’s net earnings per diluted share is provided on a non-GAAP basis only. This non-GAAP financial measure is forward-looking, and the company is unable to provide a meaningful or accurate reconciliation to a GAAP forecast of net earnings per diluted share without unreasonable effort due to certain of these reconciling items being uncertain, out of our control, and the amount and timing of these items being unable to be reasonably predicted. The actual amounts of such reconciling items could have a significant impact on the company’s GAAP net income (loss) per diluted share.
Non-GAAP Financial Measures
*Please refer to “Reconciliation between GAAP and non-GAAP Financial Measures” below for a reconciliation of non-GAAP items to the comparable GAAP measures.
