Fluoroscopy is used in a wide variety of examinations and procedures to diagnose or treat patients.

Fluoroscopy is used in mobile surgical C-arms and in fixed systems for cardiac angiography, neuro angiography and interventional vascular radiography. Fluoroscopy can result in relatively high radiation doses to patients, especially for complex interventional procedures (such as placing stents or other devices inside the body), which require fluoroscopy be administered for a long period of time.
With the recent acquisition of PerkinElmer Imaging Components, Varex now offers advanced CMOS image sensor technology for medical fluoroscopy applications with the Dexela family of X-ray detectors. The major advantages of our CMOS FPD technology for fluoroscopy are low noise, high speed, high resolution, compact form factor, and extremely low image lag. CMOS technology enable systems manufacturers to produce fluoroscopy systems with fast, low dose imaging.
